A Strike in the Dark.

Nobody knew what was going on. When had it started? Explosions rung in the air. The smell of burning trees was all around them. Burning trees and burning flesh. They were under attack.

"Who?" Luke wondered. Reflexively his mind jumped to the Yuuzhan Vong. It wasn’’t them though. Luke knew that they hadn’’t broken their peace treaty. Luke looked over to where Mara sould be. She wasn’’t there. Her lightsaber was missing also. It took Luke less than a second to feel her presence through the force and know she was safe and was already investigationg what was happening.

He grabbed his cloak and lightsaber on his way to the main gathering area.

On his way out he felt Kyp and Kyle were out their already, Kyle was with Mara. Leia was there too. Luke used the force to also check on Jaina and Jacen. They were fine. Both of them still hadn’’t figured out what was going on though.

Suddenly, the force told Luke to not go to where Mara was. He was to go towards the top of the temple. He also knew he neede to get there fast.

Using the force to empower fim, he ran faster than any non force sensitive human.

It took him only a few minutes to get to the temple top.

When he got there he immediatly saw why he had been told to come here. Saba was in trouble. He also got his first look at whoever it was that was attacking the Academy. They appeared human. Each of them had camoflauge that match the jungle of Yavin. They used sword weapons. Apparently enhanced with cortosis weaves because they could withstand lightsaber hits.

Saba was fighting twelve of them. She apparently had been fighting fourteen at one time. Luke noticed to of the attackers lying dead a few feet from Saba.

Luke used the force and lifted up two of the attackers then threw them attackers against the temple ground hard enough to knock them unconcious. Luke then used a force assisted leap to make his way to Saba and pulled out his lightsaber.

One of the attackes stabbed at Luke’’s chest, but Luke moved to his right then removed the attackers hands. He then spun and hit another of them with the butt of his lightsaber on the head and knocked her unconcious. Saba then threw one of them off then temple’’s main area to one of the ledges below. It wasn’’t really far below, but far enough that when he landed, one of his legs broke. Saba then parried a swing from one of the attacked and stabbed that one in the leg. He fell to the ground. Luke, not wanting to get anyone killed, grabbed four of them with them force and smashed them against the ground like he had the other two. They were now unconcious also. Luke then ripped the swords from the hands of the remaing to attackers and let Saba keep watch over them.

Luke, "Saba, are you alright?"

Saba, "This one is uninjured."

Luke, "Do you know who these people are?"

Saba, "No, this one does not. You should keep moving, this one will be alright."

Luke, "Okay. Head to Lowbacca and Jaina. Tell them to move towards the main area if they aren’’t there already. If you see anymore of these people on your way there, try to just knock them unconcious, we don’’t need a bunch of bodies on our hands. See you soon."

Then, without another word they went their separate ways. Luke, instead of going to the temple’’s base through the interior, jumped off of the temple top and leaped from ledge to ledge as if they were only a foot apart even though they were actually over fifty.

It took Luke only a few minutes to get to the botton of the temple, on the north side. When he got there, he saw Mara, Leia and Kyle surronded by these stange attackers. Luke also saw Kyp about forty feet away from Mara, Leia, Kyle, surronded aswell. It wasn’’t looking good for them. There was at least six hundred attackers. Luke knew he wouldn’’t be able to beat them all if he was still going to not kill anyone.

Luke stood there trying to figure out what to do. Suddenly, Corran burst out of the temple. Behind him was nine of the attackers. Luke caught the attackers behind Corran with a force push against one of the temple’’s walls that left them unconcious.

Corran then began meditating.

Luke at first was unsure if his intent, but then, Luke realised what he was doing. He was projecting images into the minds of these people who were attacking the temple. Luke let himself sucumb to the trick for a few seconds to see what he was projecting. Luke began to laugh when he saw it. There was probably at least five thousand storm troopers jumping out drop ships and coming to the ground from cable hanging from the dropships. There was also a few hundred

tie-fighters coming their way.

It took less than three seconds before these mysterious attackers fled the area. They were gone so fast that they didn’’t even have time to realise the troops weren’’t real. All was clear in less than five minutes.

Luke then walked over to where Corran was sitting and gave him a pat on the back.

Luke, "Corran, good work. Come with me to the east side of the temple, several people are wounded over there. Mara and Klye, go see if you can find anything about our mysterious attackers. Leia, go see how our newest students are doing."

Leia, "Right away."

Luke and Corran then ran over to the east side of the temple. They got there only a few minutes later and Cigal was already on the scene. Luke looked around and saw nine of some of the newest recruits to the temple had been wounded. Luke knelt down in between Tegrin and Torran. They were brothers who had just come to his academy after the war with the Yuuzhan Vong, and they were well accepted.

Luke knew they had potential. They could become fine Jedi someday. His son Ben would become a fine Jedi aswell. Luke refocused. He needed to heal these people. He guessed that it would probably take him ten minutes or so to get them back on their feet. Their injuries weren’’t life threatening, just left unable to walk for a while.

In a few days everything had for the most part returned to normal. Kyle and Mara had been able to find nothing about them. Whoever they were though, they were good at keeping from being tracked. Another mystery to ponder.
